Cardile, fascinated by Aston Martin's wind tunnel: “It takes your breath away”
The latest major addition to the Aston Martin team, Enrico Cardile, has spoken for the first time since his arrival in July. The technical director of the British team admits to being impressed with the facilities and the work environment.

Aston Martin was missing a piece: Enrico Cardile. Since leaving Ferrari, the Italian engineer had to wait a year to join his new team. Demands of a contract that the Italian house did not want to yield the bare minimum.
But better late than never and, less than six months before debuting the car resulting from the new regulations on the track, Cardile joined the team led by Adrian Newey.
Since then, both have been fully focused on creating the best possible single-seater: the AMR26 with which Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will defend Aston Martin's honor in a crucial season for the team's future.
Amazing facilities
Two months after his arrival, Aston Martin has published the first statements from Enrico Cardile as the technical director of the Silverstone-based team. And the first thing the Italian highlighted is the magnitude of the facilities.
“I am delighted to have started working with Aston Martin, it is very exciting to be part of this team, because I firmly believe it has everything it needs,” Cardile begins, before summarizing his role.
“My job is to oversee the development of the car, closely monitor performance, aerodynamics, design engineering, and testing. Basically, all activities, from the idea to the circuit,” explains the person who brings together the work of each department.
“There are many things that have positively impressed me,” Cardile continues. “The Campus is absolutely incredible and, as an engineer, the wind tunnel literally takes your breath away because of all the technology [it has], how advanced it is.”
A wind tunnel that already impressed Adrian Newey and has been key in Aston Martin's resurgence during the current campaign.
Cowell and Newey
Enrico Cardile is the third ace of a team that has two of the best engineers in history: Andy Cowell and Adrian Newey.
The former elevated his prestige to the highest expression during his time as leader of the powertrain division of Mercedes, and now serves as CEO of Aston Martin Performance Technologies and director of the Formula 1 team.
He is, in other words, the top boss who only answers to Lawrence Stroll, owner of the entire business structure. And Cardile states that he has found in Cowell a “very rigorous engineer, who pays attention to every detail of the process and the way we do things,” guiding us to be the best team on the grid.

As for Adrian Newey, the technical manager and thus supervisor of Enrico Cardile and his team, the Italian highlights his constant desire to improve every detail of the single-seater. “His unwavering vision and the constant push to keep refining every detail of the car” are the two aspects that have most impressed the former technical director of Ferrari.
Enrico Cardile has also emphasized the willingness of all Aston Martin members to work as a team and reach the top.
“People are extremely open to facing these challenges together and to changing the way we do things. There is a strong desire to progress, to improve. We will need time to grow and, as we grow, we will give our all to achieve great results,” concludes Cardile.
