And vans have a lot to do with it. For years, it has been said that the shift to fully electric mobility begins in the city and with light commercial vehicles. Time has proven those who pointed to vans as one of the main players in this commitment to electrification at its highest level.

Commercial vehicles are not immune to all these changes taking place in the European automotive industry. Vans are key in the electrification of the vehicle fleet. The popularity of electric vans in Spain has grown exponentially in recent years. The arrival of a new generation to dealerships has been crucial. An increasing number of professionals have set aside their diesel or gasoline vans to enter the world of electric mobility.
The Toyota Proace City Electric is the best-selling electric van in Spain.
What are the best-selling electric vans in Spain in 2025? The sales ranking that accompanies this article will reveal which electric vans are the most popular among Spanish drivers. A complete list where you can check each and every one of the electric vans registered in Spanish territory. The ranking includes transformations, bodyworks, and vans.

The best-selling electric van is the Toyota Proace City Electric. This electric van is the result of the close collaboration between Toyota and Stellantis in the field of commercial vehicles. In second place is the Citroën ë-Berlingo. This best-seller from Stellantis is historically one of the best-selling electric vans in Europe. A model with a "Made in Spain" label as it is manufactured in Spain. Closing the podium, in third place, is the Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric. The Renault Kangoo has several generations behind it and thousands of units sold.

On the podium's doorstep is the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, a model already established at the top of the sales ranking. Just behind is the Toyota Proace Electric. It is not common to see it so high, although it has already established itself at the top of the table. It has outperformed numerous vans that usually compete for a spot in the Top 5. And they are none other than the rest of the "cousins" of the ë-Berlingo. The Peugeot E-Rifter (6th), the Opel Combo Electric (17th), and the FIAT E-Doblò (19th).

The Dacia Sandero is unstoppable, Ebro continues to rise at a magnificent pace, and the awaited Mazda 6e premieres in the market.

During the month of July, new car sales in Spain grew again, reaching 98,337 units sold, which represents a generous increase of 17.1% compared to the same month last year. Thus, so far this year, 708,139 units have been registered, reflecting a growth of 14.3%.

There are no surprises among the best-selling models. July has once again crowned the Dacia Sandero and no one can stop it. Its price/product ratio convinces, and its popularity is such that, despite being the best-selling car of all 2024, in 2025 its sales have continued to grow by another 22%.

The Hyundai Tucson has secured the second position while a classic on our roads like the Seat Ibiza takes the last spot on the podium. The MG ZS, usually at the top of the ranking, relaxes its pace and falls out of the Top 10. On the other hand, it is noteworthy that the Ebro S700 enters the Top 50, showing that the reborn brand from Barcelona is on the right track.

The Hyundai Tucson has been the best-selling SUV in July

As for the news this month, it stands out that the Mazda 6e debuts in the Spanish market with its first 25 registered units. The Japanese sedan has generated a lot of talk due to its design and for opening a new electric era in Mazda; we will have to see if it has more luck than the misguided MX-30.

Moving on to the manufacturers' table, Toyota clearly leads while its major competitor in 2025, Renault, takes a breather in July, dropping to fifth place. Volkswagen holds the second position with Hyundai very close behind. It is worth noting that Ebro has surpassed brands like Omoda and Jaecoo, and with the arrival of the new S400, it is expected to continue growing. In July 2025, registrations totaled 28,153 units. This number of registered cars, when compared to the same period last year, represents a decrease of 6.59%. The market share of gasoline cars is 28.63%. Between January and July, registrations of gasoline cars totaled 216,432 units, 12.56% less than in the same period of 2024.

What are the preferred gasoline cars among Spanish drivers? If we take a look at the ranking of the 10 best-selling gasoline cars in Spain during July, we will find interesting changes. Changes that even affect the model that leads the category. Indeed, the victory has been for the SEAT Ibiza.

In second place is the SEAT Arona. These SEAT models are currently the reference and rivals to beat. Closing the podium, in third place, is the Volkswagen T-Roc. Although this generation is in the final stretch of its commercial life, it continues to have significant success. Just outside the podium is the Opel Corsa.

The Peugeot 2008 returns to this Top 10 with strength and is positioned in the middle of the table with a remarkable fifth place. The market share of diesel cars was 5.33%. The accumulated sales figures are also poor with 39,482 registered during the first half, 37.94% less than in the first six months of the previous year.

What are the most notable diesel cars in the Spanish market? The ranking of the 10 best-selling diesel cars in Spain in July is a clear snapshot of how things are in this category.
Although it is a 100% electric SUV, this BMW has earned the respect of its fans

BMW had been promising a different electric vehicle for years. The iX3 50 is the first of the Neue Klasse and, after testing it on the road and track, the feeling is clear: it is not the cheapest, but it is the BMW electric that finally starts to make real differences.

The second generation of the BMW iX3 arrives as an important car, not so much for what it represents within the electric SUV segment, but for what it means for the brand. It is its first production model that employs the Neue Klasse and, with it, BMW promises a real leap in technology, efficiency, and sensations.

In my case, the expectation was precisely that: to verify if, after several electric models that were more than correct but not outstanding in a specific aspect, BMW had really done its homework to create a different product. I had a special interest in knowing its dynamic capability, something that has historically distinguished the brand from all its competitors.

Aesthetically, the car did not give me an immediate spark. I find it a beautiful, balanced design that is coherent with European standards, but without an element that I would point out as authentically BMW in the emotional sense. Here I leave you a video, hosted on the Motor.es YouTube channel, that I was able to record of my experience driving it.

We tested the new BMW iX3 on the road and on the track

Interestingly, in person it gives a more compact feeling than its dimensions suggest, because the whole set is quite well integrated: lines, proportions, optical groups, and profile seem compacted into the same idea. But surely more than one will not like it.

It can equip wheels of 20, 21, or 22", so it is a big SUV. At the rear, what stands out the most is an integrated spoiler that slightly extends the roofline and its rear lights, which are quite rectangular with a personality different from what the German manufacturer is used to. That and the reinterpretation of the front kidneys that we saw in its models in the 60s are probably the parts with the most presence in the set.

Dimensions

BMW iX3 2026

Length

4,782 mm

Width

1,895 mm

Height

1,635 mm

Wheelbase

2,897 mm

Ground clearance

176 mm

Where the car starts to demonstrate at first glance why it is Neue Klasse, that is, a new generation, is in the interior. The first thing that impresses is the digitization: the panoramic instrumentation concept at the bottom of the windshield called “BMW Panoramic Vision”, the central screen of 17.9" and the new operating system that ties everything together.

In the M Sport trim of the tested unit, the steering wheel also has presence - they offer up to 3 different steering wheels depending on the trim - with "cut" spokes that group haptic buttons in its center, but what really dominates the initial experience is the digital leap. Many options in the menus and the possibility to interact with natural language with the car, a clear current trend.
BMW iX3, panoramic instrumentation and new central screen
In the first minutes, it can even be overwhelming due to the amount of digital options available, although as the test progresses, the system becomes more logical and intuitive. And sometimes surprising for how smooth it is, so the feeling of being "well made" accompanies you in this aspect.

It is an environment that requires adaptation time, but promises great utilization on the road once mastered. You can customize direct access on the central screen but also in the panoramic digital instrumentation that goes from side to side, something that no other competitor has.

Many people have complained in recent years about the excessive "screenization" of interiors, with displays everywhere. Well, they will be pleased to know that BMW has a driving mode called "Silent Mode" that reduces all displays to a minimum, leaving a cabin with few distractions, something that reminded me of the Night Panel of Saab, in the video above I show it when I talk about the front seats.
The piece I don't like as much
In terms of perceived quality, the leap compared to the previous iX3 is clear. Not so much due to a radical improvement in fittings, but due to a more balanced choice of materials. It is in line with current BMWs, although there is still room for the brand to differentiate itself even more from other premium manufacturers, especially in comparison with American or Asian proposals that have greatly elevated the perception of interior design. Almost "anyone" can build you a beautiful interior, but how will it last when the years go by?.

For me, the least convincing point was the plastic on the lower part of the center console, where buttons like the brake, volume, or gear selection are grouped, a detail that slightly breaks the premium feel of the set. Like the rest of rival manufacturers, BMW has also had to adapt its materials seeking a better ecological balance, in fact, as a curiosity, the brand announces that after only 20,000 km of use, the carbon footprint of its model, compared to an equivalent combustion one, is completely balanced. It no longer seems such a bad idea to recycle plastics, cobalt, lithium, or nickel among other elements.

In terms of front interior space, there are few complaints, although the absence of heated and/or ventilated seats is surprising. Behind, it is true that shoulder space for three adults will be tight and that there is space for legs. With the front seats in my driving position of 1.80 meters, I still have almost a hand's breadth from my knees to the backrest of these seats. It has a panoramic roof with sheets that protect from radiation and maintain the desired temperature in the cabin and they have no type of electrochromic animation, that is, they are fixed.
The rear seats ideal for two
The backrest would ideally have magazine holders because we only have the usual space in the doors to leave objects. The trunk capacity is 520 liters (1,750 if we fold the rear row), and in front, we have another front trunk with a capacity of 58 liters, to store charging cables or a small backpack.

But before continuing, let's talk about the version I tested, as the mechanics also take a leap forward. The iX3 50 xDrive, the one I drove, combines a synchronous electric excitation motor on the rear axle with an asynchronous motor in the front. Together they generate a maximum of 469 HP, 645 Nm of torque and allow acceleration from 0 to 100 in 4.9 seconds and reach 210 km/h, maximum speed limited electronically of course. Want more? Don't worry, they are working on it, on something on par with the 925 HP of the e-Tron GT that we tested recently.

Technical details

BMW iX3 50 xDrive

Combined power

469 HP

Front motor

167 HP / 255 Nm

Rear motor

326 HP / 435 Nm

Battery (NETA)

108.7 kWh

AC charging

11 kW

DC charging

400 kW

V2L charging

3.7 kW

V2H charging

11 kW

V2G charging

11 kW

Brakes Front/Rear

330 mm / 345 mm

Weight distribution

49 / 51 %

Weight

2,285 Kg

These are the engines of the Neue Klasse of BMW that I show you in the video
Its homologated weight is 2,360 Kg with driver and its distribution is 49 on the front axle and 51 for the rear. I can tell you that the lower center of gravity and the new rear suspension improve stability and the overall feeling of lightness. The new sixth-generation battery also marks differences, it has 108.7 kWh usable and uses 46-millimeter cylindrical cells with 800-volt architecture.

This allows WLTP ranges that oscillate between 678 and 805 kilometers, in addition to record charging times in a BMW: up to 400 kilowatts of power, which is equivalent to adding up to 372 kilometers of range in just ten minutes of charging at maximum power.

The battery supports bidirectional charging, so it can power small external devices using different accessories or even return energy to our home using its wallbox with up to 11 kW of power, although at the time of testing the car, legislation in Spain does not allow it, technically it can also return charge to the electrical grid and benefit economically from it, but here again the first impediment is the current law.
The BMW iX3 2026 lands with the 50xDrive version
The BMW iX3 50, the only version available in Spain at the time of this first test, starts from 69,900 euros, a figure higher than many of its direct rivals. However, we must take into account different possibilities in its competition, as Tesla offers a higher performance variant, but affects its range and Porsche offers a superlative Macan Turbo for almost 120,000 euros.

That is to say, that in reality the rivals must adjust to the real needs we want to satisfy, I have only taken a proposal that seemed coherent to me, but it is clear that this depends on the type of driver and customer.

Tesla Model Y Premium

BMW iX3 50 xDrive

Porsche Macan 4

Maximum power

514 HP

469 HP

408 HP

Charging

250 kW

400 kW

270 kW

0-100 Km/h

4.8 s

4.9 s

5.2 s

Max Speed

201 km/h

210 km/h

220 km/h

Battery

75 kWh

108 kWh

100 kWh

Range

600 kms

805 kms

611 kms

Transmission

All-wheel drive

All-wheel drive

All-wheel drive

From

52,990 €

69,900 €

85,393 €

In any case, this forces us to be demanding and analyze whether the driving experience and the technology offered by the iX3 50 xDrive justify that difference . And it is precisely when starting up that the car begins to defend its positioning. Come on, if you are thinking of buying it, you have to test it, which is something we always recommend.

On the road, the iX3 responds with precision to the steering wheel's indications, shows a very neutral behavior, and conveys a feeling of control that is unusual in electric SUVs of its size, where everything is quite assisted and filtered.
Smooth on one side and obedient on the other
Despite its weight, it is a car with which you can enjoy a winding road with confidence, exploring the limits with relative ease. Here something important appears: this iX3 has the feel of a BMW. There are not many electric SUVs that offer such balanced sensations in acceleration, braking, and steering, and its stability in curves is surprising. The steering, moreover, feels more communicative than the average in the segment. Some may not care about this, but other users will value it highly.

I never trust the WLTP consumption homologations of electric cars. BMW has homologated an average consumption between 15.1 and 17.9 kWh which allows it to travel between 679 and 805 km. Although in this presentation I could not conduct a consumption test, there are some initial data that I can share with you.

In the first part of the event, in winding sections where I enjoyed the performance, I had a consumption that stayed around 24 kWh/100km, however, after reaching Ronda and starting the descent at a more realistic pace the average was 18.6 kWh every 100 km. The measurement on the less demanding route, sustained speed and sometimes downhill, was 12.7 kWh/100 km. If you ask for it, we will do a more detailed consumption test, but ask for it.

Changing lanes just by looking is now possible

I also want to highlight the parking assistants that it can include, as the model can park itself in line and battery, managing steering, accelerator, and brake. Additionally, with the Plus package, it has a more precise distance control that performs maneuvers in very tight spaces. And finally, it can also park remotely.

The car can enter or exit a parking space completely automatically, even being controlled from the My BMW app, from which even passengers can make adjustments to the car while in motion: air, music, destination.
Parking the BMW iX3 from the mobile
But there is a function of the Highway Assistant that I want to talk about for how well it works. It is the automatic lane change, when we activate the system, the driver only has to signal to initiate the maneuver.

From that moment, the system analyzes the environment using cameras, radars, and sensors to check if the adjacent lane is free and if the maneuver is safe. If the conditions are adequate, the car performs the lane change automatically and progressively, managing steering, acceleration, and stability without the driver needing to intervene on the steering wheel.

In some markets, the system adds an additional step of confirmation by looking, as it was during my experience. Once the assistant was activated, I had to look at the corresponding mirror to validate the maneuver. This gesture replaces the physical action of turning the steering wheel and reinforces safety, ensuring that the driver is aware of the environment before changing lanes. An anecdote compared to its technological range.

BMW lets us test it on the track… and that says a lot about the car

But be careful, because we could also push it on the track. The experience at the Ascari Circuit reinforces this impression. BMW has not limited itself to talking about technical revolution, but has allowed testing the car in a controlled environment, something that not all brands dare to do.

Without being free sessions, the program included slalom, acceleration, and braking exercises in a delimited section of the circuit, enough to take the car out of its usual comfort zone. And there the iX3 confirmed what was already seen on the road: the tuning is very good and the overall feeling is of an extremely cohesive set.

What surprised the most on the track was its agility. For its size and weight, I did not expect the car to move with such ease, especially in demanding situations like braking in support or curves with braking regression, where inertia usually takes its toll. The weight is noticeable, but it is well disguised, and in hard braking, the car conveys balance and control. You can clearly appreciate BMW's work in electronic management and in the distribution of efforts, one of the aspects the brand has put the most emphasis on.

The feeling is not that of a car that corrects intrusively, but that of a system that accompanies the driver silently, anticipating inertia and body movements to offer a very coherent final result. If you have only driven electric SUVs, this model can surprise you dynamically; if you are an old-school BMW driver, you will have to acknowledge that they have done a good job.

This perception fits with the approach of the new electronic architecture and the so-called super brains: the driver does not distinguish separate systems, but perceives a uniform behavior where suspension, brakes, traction, and stability control work as a single unit. That cohesion is what makes the difference when demanding more from the car beyond a calm use.

In terms of performance, the difference between driving modes is clear. In a more neutral mode, the power delivery is progressive and easy to dose; in Sport mode, the acceleration becomes more forceful and the car shows all its potential. On the track, at the exit of the curves, you can take good advantage of the power and the distribution between axles without the car appearing nervous or overwhelmed.

The units we tested on the road and track were not the same. They had the same specifications, but a peculiar change. The street ones were equipped with Goodyear tires and the track ones Michelin Pilot Sport and changed the car's behavior a lot. The Michelins will be more expensive, will last less, and the Goodyears will allow you to achieve better consumption in day-to-day, but the feeling of control that the Michelins offered seemed to me very superior. So much so that it bothered me to write this to you. As a curiosity, the consumption during the test on the track pushing its possibilities was 60.6 kWh/100km

Without a stopwatch in hand, absolute figures cannot be discussed, but the overall feeling is very positive. Within its segment, it is one of the electric SUVs that transmits the most to the steering wheel and with which one enjoys the most in active driving, that is indisputable. Compared to a thermal BMW X3, it does not feel clumsier, and in terms of sensations, it is at a very similar level, something especially relevant being a 100% electric model and the handicap of its weight.

In more everyday use, the iX3 also proves to be a good travel companion. The acoustic insulation is notable and the ride comfort is well resolved, making it a comfortable SUV for long distances. Probably, this aspect will be the one that most customers value: a pleasant, quiet, and apparently efficient car.

This is not an electric SUV designed for those looking for the lowest price, but for those willing to pay a little more in exchange for a more complete and versatile car.

The second generation of the BMW iX3 is a model that begins to fulfill the promise of what an electric BMW should be. The exterior design is balanced, although without a clearly iconic feature, while the interior marks a before and after in digitization and improvement in perceived quality, with some detail still improvable.
A sporty electric SUV is possible
Where it really stands out is in motion, both on the road and in a more demanding environment like the track, thanks to a finely tuned setup and electronics that work almost imperceptibly for the driver. After testing it, I have to admit that the BMW iX3 50 is a car that finally makes an electric BMW feel like a BMW and not like a model conceived to meet European demands.

The interesting thing is that the 50 xDrive version will be positioned in the middle of the range when it is completed, giving BMW two more opportunities. Bringing a more radical and performance-oriented version, where it can compete uncompromisingly with the most performance-oriented Porsche Macans and on the other hand, creating entry versions with lower power and even with a smaller battery that can compete head-to-head with customers looking for greater efficiency and entry price, thus being able to seduce a fairly broad audience among which can be found customers of Tesla, or Asian brands.

Francisco Valle

Manufacturers see PHEVs as a salvation, and they are willing to present a proposal to deal with owners who do not charge the battery as they should.

Europe has begun to realize that ending thermal and traditional combustion by 2035 is becoming an impossible mission. Car prices continue to rise, the lack of public charging infrastructure is absolute, and citizens are not willing to jump into a half-full pool. Europe has left them a door open to sell PHEVs, and the salvation for brands is to continue betting on them, even though they are under the scrutiny of independent and non-governmental organizations that Brussels almost trusts with closed eyes.

The "men in black" from the Transport Commission acknowledge that the bridging technology between hybrids and electric cars is not bad in itself, but that it is the owners who are to blame for the efficiency not being what it should be. The analysis of the data sent by the cars themselves regarding fuel consumption, electricity, and driving style has determined that many do not recharge the battery when the energy contained in it runs out, so they continue driving until the end of their journeys, trusting that hybrid mode is the "perfect solution" to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
The Geely L6 is an EREV with a range of almost 1,500 km, solid-state batteries are nothing.
Limiting Power to Force PHEV Charging, the German Solution

To say that "the electricity stored in the battery is dedicated to the city and on the road I rely on the combustion engine" is not only the great mistake of plug-in hybrids PHEV, but it is to completely misunderstand their principle of operation and efficiency. Thus, it is impossible to achieve the efficiency for which they were conceived, so manufacturers are willing to propose a solution to the European Union. A very similar one to the one implemented a few years ago to force owners to use electric energy: start in electric mode and move until the stored electric current is exhausted.

It is not surprising that this solution has been devised, perfectly possible, as it is only a matter of time before a new, much stricter emissions standard comes into effect that will show more realistic emission values and, therefore, it will be more difficult for manufacturers to meet the limits of CO2, incurring astronomical fines amounting to billions. Thus, the automotive industry aims to force owners of plug-in hybrids to recharge their vehicles often; for example, programming them to require being plugged in after traveling a certain distance.

If this recharging warning is omitted, the propulsion system itself could automatically reduce power. For now, it has not been specified how power would be limited, perhaps by preventing the electric motor from operating. Hildegard Müller, president of the VDA, explains that "These measures specifically promote electric driving, this is just an idea; the legal and technical details are still pending".

PHEVs and EREVs are the Major Targets in 2035

Car brands know that customers will "swallow" plug-in hybrids in 20235, but they have the weapon of EREVs. Plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles with combustion engines that imply they are the same, but they are not. That Europe allows the installation of a combustion engine changes the whole picture...

Euro 7 is a Curve That Will Be Very Easy to Exit, Especially for PHEVs

The debate over the sale of plug-in hybrid cars starting in 2035 is still on the table in Brussels, trying to find a solution that does not destroy more jobs in the industry, but also convinces citizens. Meanwhile, manufacturers face complicated curves that will be very difficult to avoid. The latest emissions standard, Euro 6E-bis, has been in effect since the first day of 2025, and this already requires PHEV homologation tests considering distances of 2,200 kilometers.

This distance is the least of it, because what matters is that it now takes into account that the battery discharges and that, since it does not recharge, it forces the gasoline engine to travel more kilometers, demonstrating that the measured emissions double or triple. For now, the solution is to reduce the total power of the systems, decreasing pressure on the turbocharger and tweaking engine management. A few less horsepower will reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate emissions, but in 2027 the test distance will double, up to 4,400 kilometers. Then, the difference between theoretical and real emissions will be further reduced, which will have consequences. For example, it will end tax exemptions for this mechanism in some countries, and where EREVs come into play, which also have combustion engines...

Fran Romero

BMW has already admitted that the new design language of the Neue Klasse needs to reach the entire range as soon as possible, and the BMW X1 is not exempt from this strategy. The compact SUV is one of the most successful models, and not only is it already transforming, but you can see it in this preview before its debut in 2027.

BMW has set an important goal to completely or partially renew its model range before 2030, all featuring the new and modern design dubbed Neue Klasse. The German brand is making a considerable effort to achieve this challenge, allocating an enormous amount of resources like never before, and for which it has been necessary to shorten the life cycle of some models.

For example, that of the protagonist of this preview. A BMW X1 that is heading straight for a completely new fourth generation, which will arrive with only five years of life in the market, instead of the traditional seven years. The Bavarians know it is one of the most important models in terms of sales, so they cannot wait to meet the usual timeframe for the total renewal of the model, which means that the current X1, like the M35 we have tested, will not receive any facelift in the coming months.
This is the fourth BMW X1 in history, which will arrive in mid-2027.
BMW X1 2027

The suggestive style that models in testing are already presenting like the X5, which is in the same situation, will be implemented in the smallest SUV of the manufacturer's range. An X1 that we have already seen camouflaged on the roads and that will experience one of the most important transformations in its history since, until now, BMW has accustomed us more to evolutions than revolutions. A very interesting recreation, because you can see the final look of this BMW X1 from the third decade of the century.

BMW is aware that this important makeover will cost a pretty penny, as the stamping of the hood panel changes completely, just like that of the front fenders. The front end of these now fits into a plastic structure with integrated headlights, with two projectors equipped with Full LED technology and a small inclined strip shaped like an inverted 'L' for the daytime running light.

Another interesting detail is the fact that only one ingot is seen for now, as it would be an equivalent to the number of stars inside the headlights of the new Mercedes that reveal the positioning in the range. A design that will be common for both the combustion X1 and the electric iX1, but that will be distinguished by the luminous graphics of the central section, where the sensors for the driving assistants are located and a narrow oval grille in the center, although slightly wider than in the odd-named older brother.

BMW X1 2027

The side of the new X1 also changes, so it will not only be a little longer and also lower, but it will also have a completely new rear. The spy photos have already confirmed it, and even though the production taillights were not yet mounted, you can see that they will be closer to the rear window and that they will be thinner, biting more sheet metal of the tailgate, but without joining.

Inside, the new BMW X1 and iX1 will have the same consideration as Premium cars as their larger siblings, so the German brand will not downgrade the technology of the interior. The dashboard will feature the new panoramic display for the instrumentation, so the multimedia center is consolidated in a 15-inch touchscreen in the central console space. A mid-cycle refresh to stay current in areas such as design, technology, and mechanics. Additionally, with this facelift, the Sandero range reinforces its commitment to LPG.

The wait is over. After a huge amount of spy photos and even leaks, the new Dacia Sandero 2026 has been officially unveiled. The third generation of the best-selling car in Spain has undergone a significant update. A facelift to stay current and face the remaining commercial life ahead.

It comes with a new exterior design, expanded technological equipment, and a revised mechanical offering. The new Sandero does not come alone; it shares the stage with the new Dacia Jogger that also bursts onto the scene. With hundreds of thousands of units sold, the Sandero has been, since 2013, the best-selling new car to individuals in Spain. A bestseller that now has renewed arguments to deal with the growing Chinese competition.
The new Dacia Sandero 2026 has been officially presented.
The design of the new Dacia Sandero 2026

A quick glance at the images illustrating this article reveals what has changed in the Sandero. This model, along with its "crossover" variant Sandero Stepway and Jogger, are the first in the Dacia range to adopt the new lighting signature in the shape of an inverted letter "T" installed above the new headlight clusters where LED technology makes its presence felt.

The new lighting signature is connected to the new grille via a thin line of white dots that take on a pixel-like shape to create a striking contrast. The front bumper is also new. In the side view, there are no major changes, although it is true that the new Sandero, depending on the trim, incorporates new wheel trims or new lightweight alloy wheels, and a shark fin antenna as standard from the Expression trim.

Wrapping up our tour of the exterior at the rear, it is worth noting the new taillights that feature LED "pixel" lights. And in the specific case of the Sandero Stepway, the robust design is reinforced by a new matte black channeling band that extends between the taillights and the revised bumper.
The Stepway variant of the Dacia Sandero has also been updated.
To reinforce the adventurous and rugged image of the Sandero Stepway, the brand incorporates new Starkle protections that extend over the wheel arches, the body underbody, and the fog light trims. This is a material developed by Dacia, first introduced in the Duster, which contains 20% recycled plastic.

Regarding customization options, there are also new features. Dacia has not missed the opportunity to add new colors for the bodywork. The new Sandero and Sandero Stepway add the new Amber Yellow body color with a metallic finish.

The interior and technology of the new Dacia Sandero 2026

Setting aside the exterior, if we delve into the interior of the new Sandero, we will find ourselves enveloped in a more technological environment. The first thing that will catch our attention is the new 10-inch touchscreen. It is the "nerve center" of the revamped cabin. A key component for managing the infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes standard in the Expression, Extreme, and Journey trims.
Interior of the new Dacia Sandero
The Media Control system, available in the base trim, features a new more intuitive interface. The new touchscreen is combined with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Another novelty that cannot be overlooked is the multifunction steering wheel that has already been available in other models of the brand. It is also worth mentioning the new automatic transmission gear selector and the shift paddles available for the new 120 HP ECO-G engine that we will discuss later.

Among the new features arriving in the Sandero range, the standout is the wireless charger for compatible mobile phones. This is the first time this model has this option. Other new features include automatic high beams, a multi-view camera, and exterior rearview mirrors with electric adjustments and folding.

In order to create a connection with the revamped exterior design, various changes have been made inside, such as the contours of the air vents adopting an inverted "T" style. Both in the dashboard and in the front doors, there are now new trims that can be made of fabric or denim depending on the trim. Speaking of trims and upholstery, Dacia has added new materials with black and blue fabrics. The Extreme trim retains the microcloud TEP upholstery.
Digital instrument cluster of the new Dacia Sandero
To comply with stringent European regulations, the list of driving assistance systems has been improved. The new Sandero now incorporates assisted emergency braking in urban and peri-urban environments with detection of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycles, as well as a driver attention monitoring system.

The engines of the new Dacia Sandero 2026

Under the hood, there have also been changes. And very important ones. While the electrification of the Sandero will have to wait, Dacia has made interesting adjustments to reinforce this model's commitment to the most popular alternative fuel: LPG. But first, let's talk about the gasoline thermal options.

The entry-level option was previously occupied by a 1.0-liter TCe three-cylinder gasoline engine with 90 HP. This block has been boosted and now reaches 100 HP. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.0 TCe engine with 110 HP with manual transmission is also retained.
The revamped Dacia Sandero debuts a new 1.2 ECO-G engine with automatic transmission.
The bi-fuel version now takes center stage in the range. The new Sandero and Sandero Stepway incorporate a new 1.2-liter ECO-G three-cylinder engine with 120 HP (the previous one had 100 HP). It is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This is the first time the Sandero range debuts an LPG engine with automatic transmission.

To improve performance, or rather autonomy, the LPG tank has also been increased. The Sandero now has a 49.6-liter tank while the Sandero Stepway reaches 40 liters respectively. This represents a 20% increase in autonomy in LPG mode. The total autonomy (LPG + gasoline) reaches 1,590 kilometers for the Sandero and 1,480 km for the Sandero Stepway. And by the way, it is worth noting that the LPG versions come with the ECO environmental label from the DGT with the mobility advantages that this entails.

Release date and prices of the new Dacia Sandero 2026

When will it hit the market?
Dacia has not provided a specific date for the commercial launch of the new Sandero. However, we can assume that the configurator will be open before the end of the year. It will arrive at dealerships in the first half of 2026. Prices are, for now, a mystery. However, we can use the €13,600 from which the current model starts as a reference. The new one will be slightly more expensive.

Antonio Fernández

Marc Márquez, excited after achieving his seventh MotoGP World Championship

Marco Rigamonti, track engineer for Marc Márquez at Ducati, has analyzed the keys that make Marc Márquez a unique and dominant rider. Additionally, he has opened up about the problems arising from his multiple surgeries.

Marc Márquez was crowned world champion for the ninth time last weekend in Motegi, the seventh occasion in the premier category, MotoGP. However, the return of the Spanish rider to the absolute elite has not been smooth, far from it. In fact, it has been preceded by a five-year drought and numerous medical issues.

Marco Rigamonti is his track engineer at Ducati, the chief technical officer of Marc Márquez's garage, and therefore one of the people who knows best the strengths and weaknesses—because there are some. And now that the goal has been achieved, he has opened up about it.

“You can give him something that works worse, and he will tell you it’s worse, that he feels less comfortable, but he also knows he can go just as fast”

Doubts Cleared

The last years of Marc Márquez at Honda were a torment for the Catalan, who not only paid the consequences of a non-competitive bike but also of multiple crashes and injuries. So many that he began to doubt whether he could regain an acceptable competitive level.

But all doubts have been cleared, as confirmed by the results and Rigamonti himself. “The doubts that remained after the fourth surgery were cleared last season, especially because it was the first with a bike he didn’t know. But that doesn’t compare at all to what he has done this year. The progress has been enormous,” the Italian points out.

“I already knew he was a special rider; his career speaks for itself. But I didn’t expect this level of dominance,” he continues, highlighting the human side of Marc Márquez. “I also didn’t expect his human side. As an athlete, his numbers speak for themselves, and that already sets him apart. But I didn’t imagine I would meet someone so approachable, who integrates into the team as just another member.”
Marc Márquez, aboard his Ducati at the Motegi circuit
A combination that, in Rigamonti's opinion, has created an ideal work environment where respect and optimism prevail, even a sense of invincibility.

“Marc has instilled in the entire work group a huge confidence in what we do. No one expected a championship like this, and now we are fully aware of what this guy can do on the bike,” he states. “That makes you face each weekend with the feeling that things can go well. Think about it: he has been on the podium in every race he has finished.”

Thus, Rigamonti summarizes the qualities of the nine-time world champion as follows: “I would describe Marc with two adjectives: complete and positive”. Complete, because he is in every aspect: in the box, on the track, training alone. He pays attention to everything. And positive, because he faces any problem with calmness. Races are problems: crashes, mechanical issues. If the rider remains calm, that helps everyone around him.

Is Márquez an obstacle to the bike's development?

One of the myths that have arisen around Marc Márquez is that his ability to be fast with any bike is a burden when it comes to developing it, as it becomes difficult to determine what works and what doesn’t.

Rigamonti refutes this claim, stating that “not at all. In fact, it has been another discovery. Contrary to what some say, Marc is very sensitive and precise in describing what happens with the bike. He identifies and defines it clearly, even if he can still give 100% of what he has.

“If you only looked at the stopwatch, yes, you could be mistaken. But if you combine that with his comments, you know that the development is on the right track. In fact, many of his comments coincide with those of Pecco [Bagnaia], and we know he is also very sensitive,” he expands.

Rigamonti continues, pointing out that “what distinguishes Marc is his ability to give it his all, even when he doesn’t feel completely comfortable. You can give him something that works worse, and he will tell you it’s worse, that he feels less comfortable, but he also knows he can go just as fast as with the other configuration. That, of course, makes a difference, and it shows in the results.”

The Greatest Limitation of Marc Márquez

Finally, Rigamonti addresses the delicate issue of Marc Márquez's injuries. And the truth is that, while he believes it doesn’t affect his performance, it is a fact that it complicates his life when it comes to positioning himself on the bike.

“It doesn’t show in the data. What we do see is that he has a bit more difficulty in certain right turns,” he begins to say. “But he says he has always had those problems, so I think it’s more related to his riding style. Given all the surgeries he has had on his arm, it’s hard for him to find a comfortable position because he lacks some strength.
Marc Márquez kisses the #93 on the front of his Ducati
However, Rigamonti prefers to see everything in a broad context and believes that the torment Márquez has suffered has allowed him to become an even more complete and formidable competitor.

“Maybe [it’s a limitation], but it could also be that the hell he went through pushed him to take a step forward mentally. It’s not just about the physical aspect, and probably all those surgeries made him improve in other areas, like risk management. This year, for example, he has crashed much less than usual,” he argues.

Ultimately, Rigamonti reveals that “working with Marc is easy because he makes it easy. When there’s a drop in performance, he explains the reason. With a crash, it’s the same. When the responsibility is his, he takes it on without hesitation. Sometimes he tells us that there are things he simply cannot do, because he couldn’t do them at Honda either, not even in Moto2. That gives you a lot of calmness,” he concludes.

David Plaza

Bouquot did not indicate a specific date, but did point out that it will be one of the new features planned in the launch agenda for next year, just like the fourth generation of the Audi Q7.

The bulk of Audi Q9 sales will be concentrated outside Europe

The camouflage does not hide the design of this new Audi Q9, which features the same split headlights as its smaller sibling and the refreshed Q3, a design also shared at the rear. Here the taillights are divided into two sections, with a lower half that has a thin horizontal strip connecting to the opposite end. A model that should be important for Tesla, especially given its recent problems, with the decline in its sales and the growing threat of Chinese electric cars as key players.

Finally, Elon Musk decided not to create a new model or develop a specific platform, so rumors pointed to a more affordable version of its flagship model, the Model Y.
Enrico Cardile, technical director of Aston Martin

Aston Martin's technical director, Enrico Cardile, has spoken about the reasons that make this season's AMR25 a single-seater with two very different faces. Moreover, he expects to see the friendlier side of it in Singapore.

This year, Aston Martin has once again failed in its attempt to create a single-seater capable of being competitive on all circuits. Even after the successful updates in the first half of the season, the AMR25 has maintained a diagnosis that in psychiatric medicine is defined as bipolarity.

Bipolarity is a mood disorder that causes intense mood swings. At certain times, the patient feels extremely upbeat, euphoric, irritable, or energetic, known as a manic episode.

"Both can hinder aerodynamic efficiency, causing more drag and harming straight-line speed"

At other times, however, they suffer from a state of depression, sadness, indifference, or hopelessness known as a depressive episode. In particularly delicate cases, they may even experience manic and depressive symptoms simultaneously.

Bipolar disorder not only affects mood but also behavior, energy levels, and activity levels. And the truth is that the performance of the Aston Martin AMR25 this year resembles that condition painfully closely.

Enrico Cardile diagnoses the AMR25

Since his incorporation last July, Enrico Cardile has had time to observe and learn the peculiarities of this year's car and also how Aston Martin operates.

The Italian engineer, technical director replacing Dan Fallows, admits that with this year's AMR25 nothing can be assured with certainty, but there are certain signs that allow predicting its mood at each circuit.

"Obviously, you can never be totally sure how it will perform every race weekend because there are many variables at play, but circuits with high aerodynamic load tend to suit the AMR25 better and Singapore is one of them," points out the former Ferrari employee.

"In Baku, we saw how a low aerodynamic load circuit can pose challenges, but in Monza, another low aerodynamic load circuit, we had a better pace than perhaps we expected, which shows that nothing is guaranteed," adds Cardile, optimistic about Singapore.

"We believe Singapore will be a circuit that suits our car quite well, but we will only start to see our true pace in Marina Bay once the car hits the track in free practice," he states, before delving into the causes of the AMR25's 'illness'.
Aston Martin suffered immensely in Baku, but hopes to be competitive in Marina Bay.
Ground clearance, a determining factor

Since the current technical regulations were introduced, based on the ground effect, teams have learned that the ground clearance of the single-seater is key to determining the performance of each car. However, each of them has a variable level of sensitivity, and in the case of Aston Martin this is extreme.

Cardile points out that "the circuit where we have faced the greatest challenges this year is Spa-Francorchamps, which is not only a low aerodynamic load track similar to Baku and Monza, but also presents challenges in quite unique corners, such as Eau Rouge and Raidillon, which force us to maintain a minimum ride height to avoid bottoming out.

"This aspect alters the performance of our car. It is a common behavior in this generation of cars and can vary from car to car," the Italian elaborates.

Therefore, for Aston Martin, it is not as simple as stating that low aerodynamic load circuits will go poorly due to requiring a high top speed that the AMR25 does not have due to generating excessive drag, but also factors such as the state of the asphalt, the type of curbs, or the elevation changes in corners influence.

Heat in Singapore

At the Marina Bay street circuit, Aston Martin will encounter very bumpy asphalt and the need for very high aerodynamic load levels. But, in addition, it will run a high risk of suffering from overheating. What is the cause? High temperatures and very high humidity.

This will impact the aerodynamics, as it will be necessary to adapt the bodywork to the environmental conditions, as Enrico Cardile explains. "In terms of the car, you walk a fine line between keeping it cool and aerodynamic efficiency."

"To control the car's temperatures, we can open the ventilation grilles of the engine cover and the sidepods to allow more hot air to escape. And use larger brake ducts, as the brakes are used a lot at this circuit," he adds.
The night barely alleviates the heat present in Singapore.
"But both can hinder aerodynamic efficiency, causing more drag and harming straight-line speed, so it is necessary to find a balance," he continues.

This will also affect the drivers, who will experience the most physically demanding weekend of the season. "Drinking plenty of fluids before the race is very important to avoid dehydration, as it can affect concentration and lead to mistakes, and Singapore punishes even the slightest with severity due to the proximity of the walls," Cardile reminds.

"Lance [Stroll] and Fernando [Alonso] will try to stay as cool as possible, so they will use FIA-approved cooling vests to regulate their internal temperature," he reveals, before concluding by anticipating the demands of this weekend for the entire team.

"It is a physically and mentally demanding weekend for the drivers. It is also very intense for the rest of the team, both on track and at the AMR Technology Campus. But it is undoubtedly one of the most exciting Grands Prix of the year and a fantastic spectacle under the lights," concludes Cardile.

David Plaza

Porsche got rid of the springs, now the stabilizers

For now, its operation is a secret that the brand has not revealed, but it has talked about the "Porsche Active Ride" system.

An option in all versions of the new Cayenne, except for the 1,000 HP Turbo, which is based on the damping system of the Panamera and the Taycan, so that each shock absorber is connected to an electro-hydraulic motor-pump unit that regulates the pressure of the hydraulic fluid.

These generate a force that is applied directly to the body, regardless of road conditions, taking full control. The company is working at full capacity on the upcoming model, or variant of the Panda, which will be added to its European product portfolio.

This is a novelty unprecedented in the European FIAT range. A compact-sized SUV Coupé that reached Brazilian dealerships in 2022 and was anticipated through a concept model of the same name that we learned about in 2018.

This sporty-looking SUV is one of FIAT's star models in MERCOSUR. It even has a variant signed by Abarth. However, it will not bear any relation to the European model that is currently in development. The Panda Fastback will be technically related to the aforementioned Grande Panda. A block that will be offered with and without 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) technology. Both the Spanish driver and Alexander Albon hope to pass the test with flying colors.

Carlos Sainz wiped away the bad feelings accumulated during the season by climbing to the third step of the podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. On the urban circuit of Baku, the Williams driver was perfect from start to finish and finally achieved the result he had long deserved.

But all that is now in the past, and now it's time to face the Singapore Grand Prix, which is possibly the most physically and mentally demanding event of the season.

"Singapore is a very different circuit from Baku; it is a narrow track and physically demanding with the heat and humidity"

Carlos Sainz Knows What It Is to Win in Singapore

The Marina Bay circuit brings back great memories for Carlos Sainz, as in 2023 he was the only driver to break Red Bull's dominance by winning on its streets with the Ferrari.

This year, the challenge will be different: to take advantage of the opportunities that the Williams FW47 gives him on a circuit that is good for a single-seater that does not handle long and linked corners well. But the layout will not be the only challenge of the weekend.

"Singapore is always one of the toughest races of the year, both physically and mentally, but it is also one of the most rewarding when done well, and I have great memories of being here," summarizes Carlos Sainz in this regard. "I am very eager to get back behind the wheel and keep pushing and gaining momentum for the remaining races of the season. Let's go for it!".

Certainly, Singapore tests the physical and mental strength of the drivers, as it combines heat with extreme humidity and a circuit that offers no respite during its 19 corners.

That is why Carlos Sainz is already forgetting about Baku and focusing on what lies ahead this weekend: "Baku was a great weekend for us. It was fantastic to be back on the podium, and we all enjoyed it together. However, Baku is now in the past, and we quickly focused on what awaits us."
Carlos Sainz won in Singapore in 2023, but this year the goal will be more modest.
Home Race for Albon

For his part, Alexander Albon also approaches the Singapore Grand Prix with great enthusiasm. Being Thai, he feels this event as a home race since it is the closest in terms of culture and distance.

"The team achieved a great result in Baku, so I hope we can continue to capitalize on these results for the second half of the season. I am very excited to race in Singapore, as I always feel it as a home race and it will be fantastic to be in front of the fans and race under the lights."

"Singapore is a very different circuit from Baku; it is a narrow track and physically demanding with the heat and humidity, so acclimatizing quickly and maintaining the pace is always a priority. We will focus on performing well in qualifying and preparing for the race," concludes Alex Albon.

The main objective of Williams in Singapore will be to maintain or extend the gap with their pursuers in the battle for fifth place in the constructors' championship. Racing Bulls is sixth, 29 points behind the British team, while Aston Martin is seventh with 10 points less than the Italian-Austrians.

David Plaza

How many times have we heard or have you said that in Spain we drive terribly, that we have bad roads, etc.? Well, a study has created a ranking of the easiest European countries to drive in, and can you guess what position we ended up in?

In Spain we are very critical of our own for the sake of criticism. We are not a perfect country, far from it, but in terms of road safety and infrastructure, we cannot complain. Especially when we look at other countries, even other Western countries, or if we have had the opportunity to drive in other countries.

Yes, it is true, many stretches of our roads are in a terrible state, to the point that the head of the DGT, Pere Navarro, said not long ago that “the infrastructure is what it is” during the summer operation exit. And our vehicle fleet is too old.

Are you one of those who have ever said that driving in Spain is bad or that we have bad roads? This study conducted by DiscoverCars.com contradicts many of these claims and supports the results of previous studies, confirming that Spain is the “easiest” country to drive in Europe.
These are the easiest countries in Europe to drive in. Graphic: DiscoverCars
The best and worst of Spanish roads

To understand these results, we need to analyze what factors have been taken into account to establish the positions in this ranking. Up to five different elements have been considered: the per capita investment made to improve the state of the road, the different types of road signage to “facilitate navigation”, the number of cars in circulation, gas stations, and public parking spaces.

Each of these sections was assigned a maximum score of 26, so in the best case, a total of 130 points could be obtained. As we said, Spain has come out the best in the ranking, occupying the first position with 95 points. France was second, with 86, and Norway third with 82 points. The United Kingdom, Netherlands, Finland, and Austria complete the Top 5, with a three-way tie for fourth place.

But let’s analyze what we have here in Spain compared to other countries, to draw the positive and negative points of our road infrastructure. In DiscoverCars rankings, by the way, Spain already ranked fourth in the survey of its customers about the “easiest countries to drive through”, only behind New Zealand, Cyprus, and Australia. It also holds privileged positions among countries with the most affordable cross-border travel routes.
Spain also scored very well in another ranking about its roads. Graphic: DiscoverCars
If we look at the first factor analyzed, regarding investment, Spain reaches 230 euros per capita (per person per year), being one of the countries with the lowest figure. This contrasts with 345 euros in France, 540 euros in Switzerland, or 928 euros in Norway. Regarding the variety of traffic signs, with 120, only Croatia and Serbia surpass us (132 and 131, respectively).

Spain clearly penalizes in the third section, which is the number of cars in circulation, like our neighbors France, Italy, as well as the United Kingdom or Germany. In our country, there are 34 million cars, many fewer than the Norwegians in third place, with 2.8 million; Germany leads here with 49 million vehicles.

To achieve the good score, Spain can boast of providing a large number of gas stations and public parking spaces: 16,431 service stations, only surpassed by Italy and even ahead of Germany, and 9,080 public parking spaces, only surpassed here by the astronomical 36,950 in the United Kingdom.

At the wheel of the new KGM Torres HEV, with self-recharging hybrid technology from BYD.

The KGM Torres launches its long-awaited self-recharging hybrid version. A car that we have already been able to test on Spanish roads and that promises to make a lot of noise in the market. The Torres HEV has more than enough leader qualities, both in price and performance.

KGM is a brand that looks to the future, leaving its past behind and wants to rely on its current product bet so that drivers recognize it as a bold brand that makes good cars.

The Torres, a model aimed at the D-SUV segment, surprised since its inception a couple of years ago, especially with the most recent electric version EVX, but be careful, because this new HEV hybrid version is going to be a hot topic.

This is the first self-recharging hybrid from the South Korean brand (formerly SsangYong, yes), and it is not just any model. It is an attractive car on the outside, technological on the inside, and with a high-performance behavior. Behind its electrified system is BYD, the world leader in plug-in vehicles, which has designed much of the mechanics of this car.

Models like the Toyota RAV4, Ford Kuga, or the new MG HS Hybrid+ have the new KGM Torres HEV as a tough competitor in the Spanish market, and not only because of its disruptive starting price. Let's get to know it a little more in detail.
The rear area of the KGM Torres HEV remains very characteristic and original.
KGM Torres HEV, what sets it apart in the range

I had not had the opportunity to see a Torres up close for so long, and I must admit that its bold and SO particular aesthetic appeals to me. I believe that the South Korean brand has hit the mark with the design of this SUV, measuring 4.70 meters in length. It has "boxy" shapes, yes, but it has very original and well-resolved features.

The KGM Torres family will soon have four members: the gasoline version, with a C label; the electric version, with a ZERO label; this new hybrid, with an ECO label; and the coupe body Actyon, which will soon also have this latest technology. In the case of the new Torres HEV, it copies the front design of the gasoline version, although inside it has some solutions borrowed from the electric EVX.
The front of the HEV version of the KGM Torres copies the layout of the gasoline version.
The truth is that the evolutionary leap this model has made in its transition to the KGM brand has been remarkable inside. The arrangement of screens on the dashboard, with two 12.3-inch screens joined in a panoramic position, is much more attractive.

There are hardly any buttons, so everything has to be relied on the central touchscreen which, in my opinion, is one of the car's weak points. Not very intuitive and responds slowly compared to what we are used to today in our daily interactions with screens.

The KGM Torres remains a very spacious car, with huge rear seats in all dimensions that can also recline up to 32 degrees for a "nap mode". And with an outstanding trunk, of 839 liters. But let's talk about the great novelty that this version represents for the Torres range, which is under the hood and in its entrails.
The new KGM Torres HEV, now on sale in Spain.
The BYD mechanics of the KGM Torres HEV

Beyond this technology, KGM has also made adjustments in many technical aspects of the new Torres HEV. Suspensions and shock absorbers have been tuned to offer a similarly comfortable performance, like the other known variants, but with greater precision and better tuning.

And getting into the electric matter, KGM could not have found a better technological partner to carry out this Torres HEV. BYD, a leader in the manufacturing of electric and plug-in hybrid cars, does not have a self-recharging hybrid model on the market.

However, its mechanical set of 1.5 gasoline engine (different from the one used in the thermal version) and two electric motors in series has allowed KGM to design an SUV with outstanding performance with a 1.84 kWh NCM battery (the largest among its competitors, from Sunwoda). And with a total range of over 1,280 kilometers.

It is a car that, despite being hybrid, has shapes very similar to a pure electric car, more than to a thermal one. Its HEV mechanics mix series and parallel operation, as Toyota or Honda do. The Torres HEV has 8 different operating modes in hybrid, but it selects them automatically according to driving conditions.
Interior of the KGM Torres HEV
At the wheel, hardly any major changes are perceived. It mainly operates in electric mode, as long as the battery allows, even at secondary road speeds, but its great soundproofing work and the good performance of its transmission (no annoying E-CVT over-revving) left us with a very good impression in this first contact.

KGM challenged us with a consumption test on our trip from Madrid to a town in the interior of Guadalajara. Driving at speeds always very close to the legal limit (partly on the highway), but making efforts to drive efficiently, we managed to achieve 5.7 liters/100 kilometers, below the homologated consumption.

On the way back, with more enthusiasm and without thinking about consumption, we left the onboard computer with 6.8 l/100 kilometers, which is not a bad figure at all, considering the size and weight of the car. I haven't mentioned: it has 204 hp of power, in line with what the electric version offers and far from the 163 hp of the gasoline version, but at an intermediate point in terms of thrust and smoothness.
Rear seats of the KGM Torres HEV
KGM Torres HEV: prices and range in Spain

The KGM self-recharging hybrid Torres will be sold in Spain in two unique trims. The most basic, "Trend", already comes with a high standard equipment, including dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, rearview camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, or the dual digital screen inside.

The "Life" trim adds a heated steering wheel, wireless charger for smartphones, electric tailgate, 18-inch alloy wheels, or paddles behind the steering wheel. This last detail is really interesting, as it is not common to see conventional hybrid cars that allow you to choose between different levels (three) of battery regeneration.

And let's talk about prices: the KGM Torres HEV Trend has a starting price in Spain of 31,500 euros with launch campaigns, which is reduced to 28,800 euros if its purchase is financed. The Life trim starts at 34,000 euros with the promotion and at 31,300 euros with financing. The brand's secret plan is unveiled in these spy photos of a very special Renault Clio that hints at the now-defunct RS initials. The French manufacturer has decided to push the limits of its improved hybrid technology.

The Renault Clio
is an institution in the competitive subcompact market. With 35 years of history and more than 17 million units sold worldwide, it is one of the most important vehicles of the Renault brand of all time. A model that has recently launched its sixth generation. The debut of the new Renault Clio 2026 has generated a lot of excitement. And rightly so. With this novelty, the French manufacturer clears any doubts and reaffirms its commitment to affordable thermal cars.

Beyond the radical change in exterior design or the improvement of technological equipment, much of the attention is focused on the mechanical aspect of the new Clio. The brand has chosen to simplify the offer by reducing it to three engine options. A purely thermal gasoline version with 115 HP, a bifuel LPG version with 120 HP, and topping the range, an improved self-recharging hybrid (HEV) variant with 160 HP.
Renault has decided to push the new 160 HP hybrid Clio to its limits.
Renault pushes the new hybrid Clio to its limits

Achieving 0 to 100 in 8.3 seconds thanks to those 160 HP should be enough for a B-segment subcompact. However, everything indicates that the new hybrid Clio is falling short for Renault. This is demonstrated by the sighting that occurred in broad daylight on roads in southern Europe. The brand was caught conducting some very interesting yet puzzling tests with the new Renault Clio E-Tech Full Hybrid.

Our spy photographers have caught a prototype of the new hybrid Clio sporting a large amount of camouflage. At first glance, it may seem like just additional development tests prior to the arrival of this model at dealerships. However, this test unit hides a secret plan from Renault to push the new 160 HP Clio to its limits.

Internal sources have confirmed to us that the Horse specialists have been conducting tests to "unleash a few more horses," refueling with 98 octane gasoline. The goal set by the company is none other than to increase the power of this engine to 200 HP, where this fuel delivers its best performance. Let’s remember that the HEV hybrid engine equipped in the new Clio combines a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors. An engine developed by Horse Powertrain.
This more powerful hybrid Renault Clio fuels rumors of the return of the RS initials.
The return of the RS initials to the Renault range

These tests that Renault is trying to carry out in secret fuel the idea of a possible return of the RS initials. Just a few weeks ago, information emerged that opened the door to the return of the Renault Sport division in light of Alpine's collapse in Formula 1. And let’s remember that there was a Renault Clio RS in the past.

It is too early to speculate whether we will actually see a 200 HP hybrid engine in the new Clio range and, even more so, if this hypothetical engine will come accompanied by the RS initials.
