Aston Martin continues to take steps to improve the team's competitiveness for 2026, for which it has been preparing for a long time. While the British team does not expect to be a title contender yet, it does aim to make significant progress to become a regular in the fight for the podium.

And, to achieve this, it is not enough to have great designers and engineers like Adrian Newey or Enrico Cardile, it is also necessary to have proven strategists who know how to make the most of the car and the driver on the track.

Nick Roberts joins Aston Martin

With this in mind, Aston Martin has hired the senior strategy engineer from Racing Bulls, Nick Roberts. The Brit recently confirmed his departure from the Red Bull junior team, while stating that he would return to the grid next year.

And so it will be, as he will be part of Aston Martin and will work under the team's strategy chief for Fernando Alonso, Peter Hall. Nick Roberts joined Racing Bulls last year after nine seasons at Red Bull Racing.

Earlier this summer, Aston Martin also hired another former member of the Red Bull team, Giles Wood. In his case, after spending a season at Apple as an autonomous systems engineer, his role will focus on simulation and data analysis.

Aston Martin knows that in 2026 there will be no more excuses, it's time to meet expectations.

An increasingly complete team

In recent months, Aston Martin has continued to strengthen itself with a good number of mid-level engineers to consolidate some departments that were still not operating at their full capacity.

The team based in Silverstone also brought in its new technical director, Enrico Cardile, who had to wait a year to start working dressed in green after deciding to leave Ferrari. The case even went to court, which ruled in favor of the Italians.

Now, with Newey and Cardile at the helm of the 2026 single-seater project, the AMR26, Aston Martin feels capable of maximizing the potential that the new Technological Campus offers for the new regulatory period.
