CUPRA has been one of the many car brands that have made an appearance at the recent Munich Motor Show 2025. The Spanish firm took advantage of the "international showcase" that this event represents to present a whole series of novelties. One of the most notable novelties was, without a doubt, the CUPRA Tindaya. A conceptual model that lays the foundations of the new design language of CUPRA that will be applied to future vehicles of the brand.

During the unveiling of the Tindaya, the brand did not go into much detail. Especially regarding the mechanical aspect. However, at that time, there was already speculation about the idea that, in the near future, this concept car would evolve into a production vehicle. Something that has finally been confirmed by a high-ranking company official.

The production version of the CUPRA Tindaya arrives in a few years

Sven Schuwirth, Executive Vice President of SEAT S.A., made some very interesting statements during an interview with Elektroauto-News in which, among other things, the Tindaya and its rumored production version were discussed.

When asked about this conceptual model, the high-ranking official of SEAT S.A. revealed that the production version of the Tindaya is on the agenda and that we will see it in just a few years: "In the top-of-the-range segment, we present the great dream that will hit the roads in a few years, the CUPRA Tindaya. The Tindaya is a statement of intent. It will give us the opportunity to attract those customers who say that the Terramar is too small."

This is precisely one of the main reasons why CUPRA will launch the development of the production Tindaya. The CUPRA Terramar measures 4.5 meters long. This compact SUV came to market to replace the CUPRA Ateca, which will soon leave dealerships. With the Tindaya, the Spanish brand will be able to target a higher segment and, therefore, increase its potential audience.

The Tindaya will be a key model for CUPRA's arrival in the United States

Speaking of its dimensions, Schuwirth also pointed out that the Tindaya is not only designed for European roads, it is also a vehicle with a lot of potential for North America and, more specifically, for the United States. Although CUPRA has decided to delay its entry into the U.S. market, when it finally gets the green light for its launch, the Tindaya will play a relevant role.

It is too early to speculate on the propulsion technology that the production Tindaya will have, but internal sources from the brand point to a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. And by the way, when asked if there will also be a production CUPRA Dark Rebel, Schuwirth threw a cold water: "The Tindaya is even more important than the Dark Rebel. The Dark Rebel is a sports car. A dream that remains a dream."
