After hitting the MG ZS, the Omoda SUV now targets Dacia and Toyota with a new hybrid engine
The Omoda 5 will launch a self-recharging hybrid variant before the end of 2025. The new Omoda 5 SHS-H will arrive at dealerships to challenge MG, Dacia, and even Toyota. With a practically unbeatable price-equipment ratio and hybrid technology that exceeds 200 hp.

Omoda has revolutionized the competitive market of affordable cars with its popular gasoline SUV. The Omoda 5 has achieved extraordinary sales figures in a short period of time. This popularity has not only put pressure on the mighty MG ZS, but the growth of this young brand also poses a threat to Dacia and, very soon, to Toyota.
Everything is ready for Omoda to carry out the commercial launch in Spain of its first self-recharging hybrid car (HEV). The new Omoda 5 SHS-H. This best-selling model, currently available in a purely thermal gasoline version and in a 100% electric variant, will expand its offer with a highly anticipated self-recharging hybrid variant. A mechanical option aimed at targeting affordable hybrids.

During the presentation of the new Omoda 7 SHS that we will soon see in Spanish dealerships, the Chinese brand revealed all the details (except for the prices) of the hybrid variant of the new Omoda 5. From design updates to mechanical aspects and technological equipment. And it aims for success in the hybrid C-SUV segment.
Aesthetically, it will be quickly identifiable as the hybrid variant will differ from the other Omoda 5 models thanks to a series of unique elements found at the front. It will feature a new borderless grille and new LED lights for daytime running with a renewed and minimalist design.
Omoda also highlights that the acoustic insulation in the cabin has been significantly improved, resulting in greater onboard comfort. And what about the equipment? The truth is that it will replicate the winning strategy of the other versions of the Omoda 5. And it is, basically and primarily, an unbeatable price-equipment ratio. It will share equipment with the rest of the models in the range, although with some interesting new features.

The HEV hybrid engine of the new Omoda 5 SHS-H
Beyond the equipment, all eyes are on the hybrid propulsion system. A powertrain composed of a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine DHE with 143 hp and a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor. The total combined power is 224 hp and 295 Nm of maximum torque. It is managed through a DHT automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system.
It homologates an average fuel consumption of 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 120 g/km according to the WLTP cycle. As it is a hybrid car, it displays the ECO environmental label from the DGT with the mobility advantages that this entails.
Launch date and prices of the new Omoda 5 SHS-H
When will it hit the market? The commercial launch of the new Omoda 5 hybrid is imminent. It is just around the corner. As we mentioned in other articles, its arrival was expected this autumn. Prices are, for now, a mystery. We can take as a reference the €27,000 from which the gasoline model starts. The hybrid variant will be more expensive.
