The HEV hybrid engine of the new KIA Sportage 2026
Regarding the mechanical section, if we take a look under the hood of the new Sportage Hybrid, we will find a 1.6-liter T-GDi gasoline engine with four cylinders. A thermal block accompanied by a small electric motor to deliver a total combined power of 239 CV and 280 Nm of maximum torque. It is managed through a six-speed automatic transmission.
It is possible to choose between a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configuration. Thanks to a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery, the hybrid Sportage has the ability to drive in 100% electric mode in certain situations and for a specific period of time. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 196 km/h. As it is a hybrid car, it bears the ECO environmental label from the DGT with the mobility advantages it entails.
