Leapmotor's electric cars that are causing a stir due to their low price will be manufactured in Spain
Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, has confirmed what was a well-known secret. The electric cars of the Leapmotor brand will be manufactured in Spain. The company is preparing the details for the production of certain models of this Chinese brand at the plant located in Figueruelas, Zaragoza.

For some time, this possibility has been speculated. In recent months, reports and rumors had gained significant strength. Finally, this well-known secret has been confirmed. The electric cars of Leapmotor that are causing a stir due to their price will bear the label «Made in Spain». This has been confirmed by the CEO of Stellantis in recent statements that leave no room for doubt.
Producing Leapmotor's electric cars in Spain has a very clear objective. It is, basically and primarily, to avoid the extremely high tariffs that the models of this brand are currently subjected to, which are produced in faraway China. These tariffs collectively exceed 30%. Although the models of this brand stand out for their competitive pricing, this situation was not sustainable over time, and Stellantis has decided to remedy it.

Stellantis confirms the production in Spain of electric cars from the Leapmotor brand
Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, has confirmed that Leapmotor's electric cars will be produced in Spain. And although he has not specified the plant where they will be manufactured, all eyes are on the facilities that the company has in Figueruelas, Zaragoza. For some time, it has been the production center of vehicles that was in all the bets of the manufacturer.
«We recently announced an industrial alliance to provide Leapmotor with capacity in one of our Spanish plants to manufacture their cars on their platform», Filosa stated. These comments come months after a report revealed Stellantis's intention to invest around 200 million euros in one of its Spanish factories to produce Leapmotor's electric cars.
The CEO of Stellantis has also not given a specific date on when the production of Leapmotor vehicles will begin and, above all, which models will be manufactured in Spanish territory. However, based on the latest information, everything indicates that official production will begin in 2026, with the new Leapmotor B10, which has recently gone on sale in Spain, being one of the main candidates to debut the assembly line that will be set up.

Leapmotor accelerates its European offensive with the B10 and B05
In 2024, there was speculation that the B10 would be manufactured in Poland. An idea that was ultimately discarded. Additionally, we must keep in mind that Stellantis has established a strategic alliance with CATL to manufacture LFP batteries in Zaragoza, which is a point in favor of Figueruelas being the chosen facilities.
All this while Leapmotor continues with its particular product offensive. At the recent Munich Motor Show 2025, it not only showcased the aforementioned B10, but also the launch of the Leapmotor B05, a compact that will arrive in 2026 to compete, among others, with the MG4 and the BYD Dolphin. In a short period, Leapmotor has significantly expanded its model lineup.
The rapid rise of Leapmotor in Spain thanks to its affordable electric cars
Despite being a young and little-known brand, things are going quite well for Leapmotor in Spain. The Leapmotor T03, the cheapest electric car from the brand, is already ranking high in the ranking of best-selling electric cars. So far in 2025, from January to August, the brand has accumulated 1,477 registered units.
