Ford takes a step back, the Focus disappears, but its heir is already on the way and arrives before 2027
We weren't entirely sure, but it has happened. Ford has made the decision to backtrack and admit that they are working on a new Focus that will arrive in 2027. The current one, as you know it, will disappear in a couple of months, so yes, there will be a significant gap. This is how Ford has turned the situation around.

They have stretched the situation as much as they could at Ford, but in the end, they have been forced to retrace their steps and admit that they made a strategic mistake. Nothing has happened, it's just that time has caught up with them and the Ford Focus will disappear in a couple of months, as expected, for several reasons.
The manufacturer has confirmed that there will be a new Ford Focus in 2027. Just two years, the time they need to develop this new model that will fill the compact's gap. It was the most logical thing because, on the other hand, it was the absolute ruin of the blue oval brand, focusing their product range on the Kuga, the manufacturer's star, which is pulling them out of the fire, the vans turned into minivans, and two electric models that are not selling as expected.

The future of the Focus involves transforming into an SUV, bad news?
But, if Ford has backtracked and decided to keep the Focus for sale, why is it going away? That will be the question many ask. Well, simply because its platform is outdated and not only does it no longer support more advanced electrification technologies, but it is also not suitable for safety systems that are, and will be, mandatory in a few months.
Ford would need to make a huge investment for a new combustion platform, of which they do not know how long they will have it available and, therefore, amortize it. If there is no new Kuga on the horizon, things will get much more complicated for the manufacturer. But yes, there will be a model that will fill the Focus's gap and we have talked about it before.
A new crossover that will be manufactured at the Almussafes plant, in Spain, alongside the Kuga, under which it will be positioned and above the Puma. The one that was on paper destined to fill the space left by the EcoSport will become the successor to the Focus in a matter of months.
Ford must measure well, the Kuga could be a problem
The fact that it is manufactured alongside its bigger brother will allow Ford to reduce costs by sharing mechanical components and equipment. For now, the arrival date is unknown, but it should land by mid-2026, equipped with electrified gasoline engines and, at a minimum, with self-recharging hybrid versions. What remains a mystery is what this future model will be called. Perhaps it will adopt the Focus name...
Ford continues to go against the tide of all rival brands, which continue to rely on traditional five-door compact cars, while the American brand is betting on the SUV card. Because this future model will not be a crossover, which would be an option like the old Focus Active. It will be sold, but it might make a new mistake by having the Kuga in front of it...
