This Changes Everything, CATL Ends the Fortune That It Cost to Repair an Electric Car Battery
One of the biggest fears of potential electric vehicle buyers, especially if they are used, is facing an expensive battery replacement. CATL has found a way to reduce this cost by up to 90%.

CATL is the largest battery manufacturer in the world and, therefore, one of the main suppliers to the automotive industry. The Chinese corporation has numerous clients, for whom it provides after-sales service through the company Ning Service.
And this has launched a service that promises to completely revolutionize the electric car battery industry, as it is capable of reducing the repair cost by up to 90%. This way, one of the main fears of the buyer is eliminated.
CTP Batteries Irreparable? No More
CATL has not limited itself to finding an affordable and simple way to repair module batteries, which allow individual cells to be extracted to only replace the damaged ones.
Instead, it has focused on CTP batteries (cell to pack). These have the particularity of improving energy density and reducing manufacturing costs, as they integrate perfectly into the battery structure by eliminating unused space.

This also allows CTP batteries to be used in many cases as part of the vehicle structure and, therefore, the chassis. As a result, it becomes very complicated to disassemble them, and it is not possible to exchange a damaged module for a new one: they must be opened and repaired, which increases difficulty and cost.
This situation occurs in models from popular brands such as Tesla or BYD, which in many cases deters potential buyers, especially if the car is used. What’s the reason? The fear of a very high bill of around 10,000 euros or more in case of damage or deterioration.
Brutal Cost Reduction
However, this is on its way to becoming part of the past, as Ning Service has begun to offer a safe and cheap CTP battery repair service, for both new and used vehicles. In fact, they claim that the repair cost with this new technique is now between 80 and 90% lower.
For example, a CTP battery repair service usually costs around 11,900 euros in China, but with this new service, the price would be reduced to much more affordable 1190 to 2380 euros.

For now, the Ning Service has only been activated in China, where it is currently only available for CATL batteries. The company, which was founded in 2015 as an after-sales service for the Asian giant, provides diagnostic support, maintenance, refurbishment, and recycling.
Currently, it has 1100 service centers in 75 countries, although not yet in Europe. However, CATL is considering battery exchange and recycling for its customers in the Old Continent in the future.
It is true that, currently, electric car batteries have reached a very high durability. However, having the possibility of facing a repair at an affordable cost undoubtedly represents a great boost for the electric car. Will services like Ning's become the norm worldwide in a few years?
